First Steps

This application can calculate the adjustment value of the sight for a range and an arrow you like. It needs some values of an arrow and the crossbow with the sight.

Click "Edit" -> "currentCrossbow". It pop up a window with default values for a crossbow.

I use a scope with more then on Crosshair, this is useful fora crossbow. The crosshairs in the scope looks like in the picturebelow. The angles of the crosshairs I have listed here.

You can edit this values: Click the radiobutton "Crosshairs" in the red field and then click on "new". In the Listbox there appears a new entry 0. You can edit this value by clicking it and edit it in the textfield near by the listbox. Make this with the 5 values below. The order makes no difference. These are the values of my scope. The crosshairs looks like the picture below:

0 mm/m
6.179 mm/m
15.935 mm/m
22.114 mm/m
26.667 mm/m

Fill in this values please and the click on "Ok" to close the window. You can see the diagram with the crosshairs (horizontal blue Lines). The red curve shows the aiming solution for any ranges you want to now. Click here for a better description. If you want to change the angle and the range, change the values for range and elevation at the sidebar at the leftside and click "ok". The elevation is needed if you want to shoot uphill or downhill, otherwise the value should be 0.There are 2 lists with

Calculate the Velocity of an arrow:

Define an arrow in the same way I described befor. Then define a crossbow, but don't close the window! Click on the button "calculate" right beside the textbox "Energy". It pop up an new window. Select an arrow in the arrowlist. Fill in the value "Height of the sight" in millimeter. Shoot with the crossbow at to different ranges and take ever the same crosshair or take the same adjustment value. Fill in the values for the ranges. The values for the crosshairnumber or the adjustment value can be 0. This must be the same for both ranges. Fill in the devitation of the arrow for both ranges in millimeter. Take care: a devitation over the targetpoint must be a negativ value.Click on "calculate". Right beside there should appear our values for the Velocity, energy and the base angle.
